NEYIF Trained and Empower 120 Beneficiaries on Skills Acquisition in Sokoto State.

 NEYIF, AL-Yateem, with funding support from Global Community  Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) Trains and Empower 120 Beneficiaries with Start-Up Grants in Sokoto State as Part of Violent Extremism Prevention Efforts.
As part of its effort to Preventing Violent Extremism in Sokoto State, the North East Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIF) Sokoto Office in collaboration with Al-Yateem Charity Initiative has distributed Start-Up Grants to 120 trained beneficiaries consisting 80 female and 40 male  mostly youth and Women selected from across its Four Local Government Areas of project implementation; Sokoto South, Sokoto North, Kware and Wamakko.
The distribution which took place at Sultan Muhammadu Maccido Institute for Qur’anic and General Studies came after the Beneficiaries had undergo 3 months of rigorous training on Carpentry, Tailoring, Tiling, Shoe Making and Bakery service where they learned about their preferred business to venture into.
Speaking, the Executive Director North East Youth Initiative for Development, Comrade Dauda Muhammad Gombe expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty Allah for what he termed as milestone achievements in Sokoto State.
He then urged the beneficiaries to utilized the grant efficiently so as to be self reliant.  He however warned the beneficiaries in strongest term not to dare sell the grant, as doing so may come with legal consequences.
The Special Guest of Honor, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu ably represented by the Director, Directorate of Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism, Counter Terrorism Center, Ambassador Hajiya Mairo Musa Abbas commended NEYIF for the remarkable achievements in and committement towards Preventing of Violent Extremism in Sokoto State. She however commended the Sokoto State Government for creating a budget line for NEYIF’s PCVE Project in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, representative of the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Musa Balarabe, commended the organization for the gesture which he said would go a long way in reducing poverty in their communities.
The Commissioner however announced that his Ministry will create a budget line for NEYIF’s Project of Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism in Sokoto State.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to NEYIF for the training and the equipments. And also pledged to make good use of the gesture.
The breakdown of the Grant is as thus;
TAILORING
Sewing Machine, 2 Wooden Stool, Wooden, Table, Scissors, Thread and Needles and Measuring Tape
CARPENTRY
Wooden Table, Circular Saw, Power Drill, Knife, Carpenter Pencil, Jigsaw, Screwdrivers, Utility, Block Plane, Combination Square and Speed Square.
BAKERY
Local Ovum (Uses both Charcoal and Gas), 20kg of Flour, 20kg of Sugar, Yeast, Baking Powder, Mixer and Mixing Bowl, Roller and Rolling Mat, Whisk and Spatula
TILING
Manual Tile Cutter, Tile Saw, Grout Float, Tile Spacers, Trowel, Sponges, Tape Measure, Rubber Mallet, Spirit Leveler, Pencils and Shovels.
SHOEMAKING
Polishing Machine, Shoe Hammer, Shoe last, Shoemaker knife, Silver Erasable Pen, Lasting Pliers, Shoemaker Rasp, Shoemaking Nails and Chemical Fabric.
