NEYIF Engages Yobe State Government on USAID-BHA Funded Project
The North East Youth and Initiative for Development (NEYIF) paid a visit to the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) to formally engage the government ahead of implementing a one-year USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) funded project in Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Led by the Executive Director of NEYIF, the delegation sought government support for the successful implementation of the project, which focuses on agriculture and nutrition. The project aims to:
- Improve the capacity of locals through a market-based system approach
- Engage mothers, youth groups, and the elderly in regular farming, micro-gardening, and demo farms across five selected wards of the local government
- Enhance the nutritional status of malnourished children through the use of Tom Brown (a nutritious food supplement)
- Support caregivers, pregnant women, and lactating mothers
Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Jalo, Director of Research and Rescue, represented Dr. Mohammed Goje, the Executive Secretary of YOSEMA, in receiving the NEYIF team. Dr. Jalo described the visit as a “homecoming,” noting that NEYIF has been positively impacting the lives of Yobe residents for the past decades.
Dr. Jalo assured the NEYIF team of the government’s full support in making the project successful.
The meeting was also attended by key SEMA officials, including the DPM, CEO, Chief of Staff on Diaspora to the Executive Secretary, and other staff members.
NEYIF looks forward to collaborating with the Yobe State Government to implement this vital project, which promises to bring significant improvements to agriculture and nutrition in the Yunusari Local Government Area.
