IYD: NEYIF, Yobe task youth on digital technology to better their lives
As part of the activity marking the commemoration of International Youth Day in Yobe state, the North East Youths Initiative for Development (NEYIF) in collaboration with Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA), have organized a one-day symposium on Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development in the state.
The Executive Director of NEYIF in person of Comrade Dauda Muhammad Gombe spoke at the symposium, emphasizing that this day is dedicated to celebrating the contributions and pivotal role of young people in advancing society. He highlighted that the event aimed to explore ways for youth to leverage digital spaces, advancing both personal development and overall societal progress.
“We believe that the youth of our state should not be left behind in the digital revolution. That’s why we organized this event – to mark this important day and to educate young people on various topics including social media use, digital literacy, and other relevant skills. Our goal is for them to take advantage of these opportunities to grow and improve their well-being,” he explained.
The executive director encouraged young people to become promoters of peace through responsible use of social media. He also urged them to take advantage of digital platforms for personal advancement, particularly by engaging in online learning opportunities.
The youth symposium featured academic presentations and panel discussions, providing a comprehensive exploration of the topic at hand.
